Summer 2018 Term – Program of events
This term the Beavers will be working towards their My Outdoor Challenge Badge and their Camp Craft, Cook, Explore and Safety Activity Badges, as well as their Hikes and Nights Away Stage Badges.
Week 13 (July 17th & 18th)
Last meeting before summer holidays and a time to reflect on our amazing terms events, and to award badges to our busy Beavers.

Week 12 (July 10th & 11th)
‘Cook’ #4
We will be learning how to and preparing and making two dishes.. Fruit kebabs and French stick pizzas.. Mmmm, Yummy! ;-p

Week 11 (July 3rd & 4th)
Safety # 3,5,6, & 7.
We will try and have a unformed police attend to discuss ‘Stranger danger’, what to do if there is a fire, carrying out a fire drill and learn how to call the emergency services.

Week 10 (June 26th & 27th)
‘My Outdoors’ #5,’Safety #1 & 2, Hikes Away Staged Activity
This week we will set off from the hut on a hike around the lakes, pointing out different types of animals, insects, birds and fish, and learning about what they eat and where they live.
We will also be recapping and utilising the green cross code and water safety code that we learnt about last week.

Week 9 (June 19th & 20th)
‘Safety’ Activity #1,2,4 & 7
Learning about the ‘Green cross code’, and the ‘Water safety code’, pointing out dangers in our surroundings and what to do at a roadside and rail level crossing.

Week 8 (June 13th & 14th)
Snow centre Activity. Meet at and collect from the snow activity centre in Hemel Hempstead.
Another fantastic new experience for our Beavers. Details to follow.

Week 7 (June 5th & 6th)
‘Explore’ #3 & 4, ‘My Outdoors’ #6
Log chew to show and share what we explored over half term, and making some ‘Fat-balls’ to help animals in the wild. Get to take them home and watch the birds feast on them 🙂

Week 6 (May 22nd & 23rd)
‘Explore’ #1 & 2
We will be having a low chew to discuss the ‘Explore’ Activity badge, which the Beavers can earn over the coming half term, deciding what to explore and thinking about what to expect.#

Week 5 (May 15th & 16th)
‘Cook’ #1,2 & 3. ‘Camp-craft’ #6
We will be discussing balanced diet, hygiene and safety where cooking and food prep takes place.
Also, preparing to start our ‘Camp blankets, and/or ponchos for use during Scouting and beyond.

Week 4 (May 8th & 9th)
‘My Outdoors’ #4, ‘Campcraft’ #3
Our Beavers will be learning a specific skill that can be demonstrated at this coming weekends AGM.
We will be toasting marshmallows, either on a small campfire or using Bunsen burners! Mmmm 🙂

Week 3 (May 1st & 2nd)
We will be swimming up some of our Beaver Scouts to Cub Scouts this week, and completing the ‘Funathon‘ sponsored mile which will be undertaken as a ‘Three legged’ event. All parents/carers are welcome to stay and cheer on our little beavers as they make their way around the circuit.

Week 2 (April 24th & 25th)
‘My Outdoors’ #2, #5. ‘Camp-craft’ #4 & 5
We will be handing out sponsor forms for the sponsored silence and sponsored ‘Funathon’ mile for this coming weekend and next weeks meeting.
We will also be learning to tie three knots including the Reef knot, and some pioneering activities making mini wigwams from bamboo and elastic bands in preparation for our summer camp.

Welcome back Beavers, and say hi to some new Beavers in training.
This week we will be reminding our Beaver rules, behaviour and expectations, re-learning our Beaver Scout promise & motto, and understanding what the promise means.
