Chubb

The Scout Association and Chubb Fire have been working together for over 12 years, partnering the Scout Fire Safety activity badge and encouraging ALL Scouts to understand fire safety across the UK.

Since the start of our partnership, over 72,000 Scouts have been awarded the activity badge, meaning more young people have an effective escape plan in place for their homes should an accident occur.

Chubb Xmas Card Winner 2014

In recognition of the winning entry the group were awarded with a cheque for £300 to allow the group to take part in an outdoor activity together. Two runner-up groups, 6th Friern Barnet Scouts 6th NW Beavers, received prizes of £100. All three groups’ designs were used on the Christmas e-card sent to Chubb customers across the UK.

Clare Whitehead, group Scout leader of the 6th Devizes Scout Group, was delighted that their group had won and by the Scouts’ reaction. “They worked on researching fire safety and the different dangers around the home at Christmas to use in their card designs. Sam was surprised that his design was chosen, and incredibly happy too. With the generous prize money we will be enjoying an outdoor adventure day together.”

Jane Garland, Marketing & Communications Manager, Chubb said that even after 10 years of supporting Chubb’s Fire Safety Badge, the judges are always surprised by the quality of the Christmas card entries. “The competition encourages young people to really think about what fire safety means at Christmas. It is a fun way for the groups to reinforce the important fire safety messages already built into Chubb’s Fire Safety Badge, and it’s encouraging to see so many young people demonstrating such creativity. It is our hope that the knowledge they take away from these activities will help keep them and their families safe if confronted by a fire.”
